Greatest Bar...Greatest station!

Chris and 1.5 here coming at you from the 'BOS hideout. We just got back from the Greatest Bar where we and Budweiser teamed up for the Bruce Springsteen concert and made one lady very happy. The 4 level bar was jam packed with people decked from head to toe in Springsteen paraphernalia. We raffled off Budweiser swag and a pair of tickets to the concert. Pre-gaming concert goers were fortunate enough to get a free copy of Studio 7 recordings.

B.B. is the King!

1.5 and Bex reporting from the happiest place on Earth....'BOS headquarters. We just got back from the B.B. King concert which was held at the Lowell Auditorium. Despite the near freezing temperatures fans showed up hours in advance and waited patiently outside. Our very own Holly Harris greeted people as they walked in. Those lucky B.B. and 'BOS fans were fortunate enough to get in early and receive the usual swag...CDs, keychains, and Frisbees. After spending $30 on a concert t-shirt fans were more than happy to get something free from the happy people at 'BOS. B.B. King took the stage at 8:00 and rocked the audience with steller performances of classic hits such as Sweet Little Angel, Please Love Me, and Worry Worry.

The Man isn't Plain but He is From Them...

1.5 here, hanging out alone....dry those tears! 1.5 is all man and likes his alone time every now and then. I was fortunate enough to work the screening of MAN FROM THE PLAINS, which is an amazing movie about Jimmy Carter. I and the V.I.P.s lived it up tonight while becoming educated on a little U.S. history. Here is the plot... "Man From Plains is an intimate, surprising encounter with President Jimmy Carter. Following the path of Mr. Carter's recent controversial book tour for Palestine Peace Not Apartheid, Academy Award© - winning director Jonthan Demme reveals a complex individual who, with the gusto and determination of a youngster, criss-crosses the country to get his message across, even as that message creates a media onslaught in which his credibility and judgment are called into question. Man From Plains explores both the private and public sides of Jimmy Carter, whose intense sense of justice compels him to pursue, with undiminished energy and hope, his lifelong and deeply spiritual vision of reconciliation and peace."* With that being said.

Pumpkins for You and Me!

What a successful Event!

Lauren, Mark, Becca, 1.5 and Jason here and what a great day we had on Saturday. It was Camp Sunshines Pumpkin Festival presented by Market Basket. Families came out and brought Jack - O - Lanterns for the large display in the middle of City hall plaza. WBOS's own George Knight hosted the afternoon portion of the stage and gave away plenty of WBOS Goodies. After Dark host Dominick took over for then evening he introduced the talented Lisa Love Experience who set the tone for the remainder of the night...Rock & Roll Good time! The crowd gathered toward the main stage and watched great acts during the last few hours of the night. Our Street teams own Jason Rossi(Photo: in middle of the self proclaimed Rossioholics) hosted the closing of the event and introduced Matt from Camp Sunshine who thanked everyone for being there and helping raise money for Camp Sunshine. Matt did a great job putting the event together and it was great to hear him thank WBOS and his hard work paid off the event was a total success. The night ended in true Rock fashion has the Ultrasonic Rock Orchestra covered some of the greatest songs in rock history with over 25 people in the Orchestra it topped off quite a unique day!

One great moment from the event is when Lisa a mother of a child who goes to camp Sunshine told us how great of an experience Camp sunshine is. She described how the kids get to be involved in all activities and how for the adults its a good vacation. Since some of us had no experience with Camp sunshine it is great to hear good things about such a great origination.

Keep it real, and come see us soon so you can be featured on the WBOS promo Blog.

to find out where we will be next Listen to 92.9 WBOS and continually go to WBOS.com

The Good-Bye Boy!

Usually when you read the promotions blog its about events we work or funny stories behind the scenes here at WBOS, but today is different today is a bittersweet day for all of us at WBOS as our without a doubt fearless leader departs.

Today October 19th WBOS Program Director David Ginsburg finishes what you can only call a very successful run at WBOS. Now you can read any of the DJ blogs and talk to them in person and they can tell you how great of a Boss and Man he is. Here in the promotions department we can tell you how much of inspiration he is.

Starting with Crystal WBOS Promotion and Marketing Director she and David have such a great relationship working and as friends. Anytime the two talk its a priceless moment, some i could never write about....Children could be reading.

To the rest of us the street team and promotion assistants. David serves has a mentor and motivator he was once in our shoes just trying to what he could to help WBOS. That was over 7 years ago and he climbed all the way to the top.

David has had a huge impact on our lives and its sad that we realize this in his final moments as a co-worker and Boss, but I know we will all stay in contact with him because well he is one of the greatest guys and we know how lucky we are to have had him has our leader.

So without getting over sappy and I will now listen to Green Day's "Time of your Life" hahaha.

We here at WBOS wish David The BEST of Luck in the future and all hope that we can one day work together again.

Thank you David!

Jason, Mark and 1.5 here. We just got back from Arlington where we teamed up with RCN and supported good old fashioned Pop Warner football. The fortunate 'BOS listeners that came by our table recieved frisbees, pens, keychains and a coupon for a free Slurpee courtesy of 7-11. Get Slurped! Have a splendid day. Jason, 1.5, Mark

Bex and 1.5 here reporting to you straight from the 'BOS living room. We just got back from the Komen Race for the Cure event that was held at UMASS Boston early this morning. 'BOS and Cold Stone Creamery teamed up and gave the people what they wanted...icecream and keychains. With Dana Marshall leading the opening ceremony we met up with cancer survivors and supporters who are determined to find the cure. People ran, walked, wheeled, and crawled, through the race while success stories were told over the loud speakers. There wasn't a dry eye in the crowd. Enjoy the beautiful weather!

BluesFest

Hi loyal listeners! This is Bex from the 'BOS Street Team and 1.5, Mark and I were at the Blues Fest at Wachusett Mountain earlier today for the all day blues festival. Our very own DJ, Holly Harris, who hosts "Blues on Sunday" from 7 p.m. to 11 p.m. was the host for this all day festival. Even though the weather was not perfect, it didn't stop the herd of loyal blues fans who still made it out to spend several hours jammin' along to some quality blues tunes. Blues fans are definitely true fans as we saw earlier through the number of people who literally kicked off her their shoes and danced in the puddles at Wachusett Mountain. All in all it was a great day to be singin' along to the blues. Until next time...

Lyrics for Life Gala @ Avalon

Hello again 'BOSers! This is Bex and last night I was lucky enough to attend the Lyrics for Life Gala held at the Avalon with one of my best friends since middle school, Carolynn. It was definitely an evening to remember. Our very own Dana Marshall hosted the event. Guests were dressed to impress and enjoyed fine dining while listening to live music from French Lick, the Alternate Routes, Pat McGee and Sister Hazel. They all played acoustic sets to an audience filled with really amazing people who all helped raise money for Lyrics for Life. Many guests were a part of the Operation Swan Dive which occurred both Saturday and Sunday. One woman did her 100th jump on Sunday with one of the members from Sister Hazel! A video of the jump was played on stage along with clips of families at Camp Sunshine. I don't think there could have been a dry eye in the entire house. However, as all true rockers do, Sister Hazel later picked up the pace and guests were moving tables in order to create a mini dance floor. A silent auction was also held to raise money for cancer research and a second live auction was held to receive tickets to a Boston Celtics game, fly first class with the team and stay at an amazing hotel. All in all, it was a truly amazing event which helped raise so much money for Lyrics for Life. I felt so privileged to be a part of this event and would like to thank all of those who took part in the event or helped raise money. To check out how you can help out Lyrics for Life, please visit www.lyricsforlife.org.

Operation Swan Dive

Hello fellow rockers! This is Bex from the 'BOS Street Team. Bevin and I just returned from Operation Swan Dive in Pepperell, MA! This skydiving event was to benefit an amazing non-profit charity called "Lyrics for Life." "Lyrics for Life" brings musicians and celebrities together for a series of concerts and auctions to raise awareness for serious illnesses such as cancer. Sister Hazel's front man, Ken Block, started the organization in memorial of his younger brother and the organization has turned into a large scale fight against cancer. In order to help benefit "Lyrics for Life," our very own afternoon DJ, John Laurenti, went skydiving. While John and his fellow skydivers were jumping out of planes literally over our heads and landing in the field, we were giving away all sorts of 'BOS giveaways. After their jumps, people could enjoy live music and some delicious treats. All jumpers told us that they had an amazing experience and wished that they could skydive again. This was truly an amazing event which benefits an even more worthwhile cause. You can learn more about this organization at www.lyricsforlife.org.

On behalf of the rest of the Street Team, I would like to give a shout out to Bevin, one of our summer interns. Today was Bevin's last day and we went out in style, of course. Good luck with your last year of school Bevin! Thank you for all of your help this summer! One day we will jump out of planes too!

Rockin' the Boat

Bex here from the 'BOS Street Team. Mark and I just got back from the Rock and Blues Music Cruise. Tonight Chad Perrone, OSB and Tim Blane were all performing sets as a part of the WBOS Boston Music Showcase. The Rock and Blues Cruises leave from Long Wharf and cruise goers get to enjoy quality music along with a cash bar and food while the boat circles Boston Harbor. The view from the cruise is absolutely amazing and listening to some of your favorite Boston artists makes it even better. Speaking from experience, the cruises are always a guaranteed good time and if you haven't been on one yet, I would highly recommend you to check it out! All in all, Chad, OSB and Tim all rocked the boat on those harsh harbor seas. Until next time...

Swan Song: Last Copley Show!

The 'BOS Street Team here. We just had this year's last Copley show from our Summer Concert Series at Copley Square Park! Matt Nathanson and Jonatha Brooke wrapped up the series this past Thursday. The crowd was wild for Matt Nathanson and he signed autographs and chatted with fans for nearly two hours after his set! While Matt was getting personal with the crowd, Jonatha Brooke played an amazing set during the extremely windy day. Both Matt and Jonatha are orginially from the Boston area and definitely helped represent the Boston music scene in rock and roll style. Just like a "lingering" "car crash," the music kept rocking into the night. This past Thursday was also a fellow street teamer, Amanda's, last day before leaving to start her college career this fall. We'd all like to wish Amanda luck in Pennsylvania! We will miss her Team Power! Thanks to all of those who made it out to one of our Copley Shows this summer! Until next time....

Bikes! Comcast! Wbos!

Bex and 1.5 reporting here from the secret 'BOS streeteam clubhouse. We have just arrived back from Allston where Comcast and 'BOS fused our love of radio and T.V. together to create a super "Comcastic" experience. The fortunate souls who found us were able to sign up to win a mini-fridge and basket full of tasty treats. They also walked away with a deck of cards, frisbees, and our famous cd openers. Many 'BOS listeners feel the need to not take a C.D. opener because they "don't buy C.D.s" however one unique individual informed us that "real men open C.D.s with their mind." So, with that being said are you a real man/woman?

People of all ages filled Yawkey Way waiting for the gates to open. For many this was their first Police concert however many others were representing past years concert shirts. Despite the torrential downpoars earlier in the day, everyone was anxious for the concert to begin. We were told "even though it cost us $450(a ticket) it will be worth every penny". Signing off...Amanda &1.5

We have the..."North Shore Spirit!"

Bex and 1.5 reporting here! As the Black Hawk helicopter roared over the crowd as it took off during the last lines of the Star Spangled Banner, the "Army Weekend" was off and running. The N.S. Spirit players were sporting new camoflauge jerseys in honor of the weekend, while fans got the oppurtunity to climb a rock wall, have a hot dog, and get the full 'BOS experience. At a comfortable 83 degrees it was a perfect Friday night for a baseball game and good music. By the end of the night everyone was walking out with a summer sampler in there hand and a smile across there face. Hugs and out... Bex and 1.5

The Cat "Empire...Strikes Back"

Despite the heat, the 3rd week of the Copley summer series was a huge success. Fans of all kinds stormed Copley Square Park while Eli "Paperboy" Reed greeted them with smooth vocal lines laid over an explosive rhthym section. As The Cat Empire hit the stage the crowd started to squirm in there seats eventually turning into a dance party. Playing a seamless set made the exhausted crowd forget about the heat and feel the heavy groove laid down by The Cat Empire. Overall it was an amazing night and enjoyed by all. Untill next time.....

Clay Subaru in Norwood

Mark and Becca here from the WBOS Street Team. Today we went to Clay Subaru in Norwood. The gals and fellas from the Subaru Staff were so generous and excited for the promotion we had today. Because the weather was so wonderful, we got to set up outside and play music from our new 'BOS sampler CD and past Live From the Archives CDs. The Clay Subaru staff even took out a grill and made some food while we enjoyed the day. We had plenty of t-shirts and sampler CDs to give away to customers who seemed to especially enjoy the first track off the sampler CD called "Good Excuse" by John Butler Trio who we all got to enjoy when he played our past EarthFest concert in May. Till next time....
Keep on rockin', Bex and Marx

The Valvoline Experience...

1.5 and Becca here. We just got back from the Valvoline in Framingham where we celebrated the Grand Opening! All customers were offered half off oil changes, free food, and the wonderful company of the 'BOS street team. The Valvoline staff greeted cars with large checkered flags on Route 9. Customers enjoyed The Cat Empire playing in the background while their cars were being serviced. Many were unfamiliar with the C.E. and are now extremely excited for the upcoming Copley concert this Thursday. Hope to see you there...

Bluesfest '07

Hello!!
This is Mark and 1.5 from the Street Team here @ WBOS! This weekend we were at The 2007 Bluesfest held @ The Beautiful Plymouth Memorial Hall! It was a very exciting night, it started out as a party on the Memorial Hall steps as we had concert goers dancing to music, playing games and winning prizes! Once the doors opened the party really started, as Blues fans were treated to an exceptional show, there was just about a packed house and everyone was dancing and having a blast! The standout performances were given by Professor Harp and Headliner The James Montgomery Band! James and his band were great! However Grace Kelly and her amazing Sax playing stole the show as she was brought up on stage for about 3 or 4 songs with James Montgomery! Overall it was a Tremendous Event! We cannot wait to have the privilege to do another Event @ this Amazing Venue. If you haven't been to The Plymouth Memorial Hall we suggest you do! The place is perfect for anyone looking to see a great show!

We also want to remind all of you reading this post that this Thursday, July 19th Live @ Copley Square will be Martin Sexton and Chad Perrone! Show starts @ 5:30 p.m. and is "FREE" for all to attend!!

Well until next time 1.5 and I will be signing off hope to see all of you Thursday!!

WBOS has talent!

Jenn here, I'm the Director of Marketing & Promotions for 'BOS. This means that I oversee all the stuff you read on our website, all of the events, and the people that you meet on the streets...this means that I'm somewhat behind the face of WBOS!
Anyway...enough about me...the real reason I took over the Promotions Blog is to write about talent. Now sure, you're thinking I'm in radio...of course I'm surrounded by talent, but I'm talking about secret talents...the ones that people have that they cultivate in their spare time, that being said, I want to talk about one of our Street Team guys - Mark!

Earlier today Lauren LaRocque from WBOS' Adopted HD 2 Sister Station Radio You came in and told us about Mark's budding singing career, so Crystal, the WBOS Assistant Promotions Director and I took a moment to check out his MySpace and take a listen -

The Verdict - FANTASTIC! He's like a little Justin Timberlake or "JT" as the kids these days call him! All of this just goes to show you learn something new about people everyday! And as a special treat - Click here to visit Mark's MySpace and hear the song that intrigued me today!

Street Team Adventure #1 - The History of 1.5

Hey there Jason and 1.5(See Picture) here from the WBOS Street Team. Hmmmmmmmm 1.5? Who or what is that? Well here is alittle history about that.

I (Jason) had been at WBOS for awhile, when a new male intern was hired. His name was JASON!!!!! The foundation of WBOS was in ruins....the thought of two Jasons in WBOS was unbearable and the future was doomed. Crystal and Jenn (Promo Dept. aka our bosses) were put in quite the quagmire, and had no idea how to identify us.......believe you me we look nothing alike but with the same name I rather be his twin.

It got to the point where there was only room for one Jason. It was a dark rainy day in Boston when I came in to WBOS and found the other Jason sitting at the computer I had used since I started. I pulled him aside very aggressively and told him this can't continue "I am Jason and have been Jason since I started so you...you....". I was flustered and came up with nothing. He laughed me off and continued to update our website. As I worked at a different computer then usual, I came up with a solution.......Give him a nickname! I then turned to "Jason" and said "I know how to make this work, You will no longer be known as Jason.....You are now deemed 1.5. He smiled and said "I like it". The meaning is I am Jason and he is another form the 1.5. Does it make much sense NO but it has worked ever since. Now the Sun shine upon WBOS and everyone works in harmony.

So there you go that is the history of the Jasons now Jason and 1.5 So next time you hear that WBOS is making an appearence please come out and ask about 1.5 and Jason and take a cd opener.

This is only the first of many blogs you will read from the street team....it might not always be us you will read from Becca,Lauren,Mark, 1.5 , Jason , and future street teamers. We will post about different promos and things we see out there so come to our appearences and you yes YOU might be a topic on the next Street team Adventures.
